The Robust Systems Laboratory owns a Bisight Stereo Head and two CCD cameras with motorized lenses, mounted on a Unisight pan and tilt unit. The head and the lenses are controlled from a delta-tau controller mounted on a VME bus and the outputs of the cameras are connected to a Datacube pipeline image processing machine, also mounted on the VME bus. The current configuration of the Datacube includes a Max250 video board, a Max860 RISC vector processor with floating point capabilities and a MaxScann board. The laboratory also has an additional image capture setup consisting of a 3-axis (1 rotation, 2 translations) table controlled by DC servo motors with 1 micron step and 0.01 degrees of resolution from Newport Klinger, one CCD camera mounted on a Directed Perception pan and tilt unit, a robot arm RTX with seven degrees of freedom and a CCD camera mounted on it, and a flat bed color scanner with a maximal resolution of 1600 x 1600 dpi. Furthermore, a set of lights at 10 degree increments over a 180 degree span has been mounted over the moving table to conduct experiments with controlled illumination. Additional equipment includes three EVI Sony camera, pan and tilt combinations, two omnidirectional cameras and a Minolta Vivid range scanner. Besides the above specialized hardware, the laboratory currently contains several computer workstations, including dual processors Sun Sparc ULTRA 60 and Ultra 2, 7 Sun Sparc Ultra 10, a dual 1.7 Ghz processor Dell and 3 Pentium 3 PCs.
